I walk without flinching through the burning cathedral of the summer. My bank of wild grass is majestic and full of music. It is a fire that solitude presses against my lips.

Preface to a perfect Lawrence summer

I've decided to try blogging...again.  Someone once told me that she would make my old journal entries into a book after I died because people would think that my writing is funny.  I'm still trying to decide if this is a compliment or a plot to kill me.

So, because I'm spending sixty one beautiful days in Lawrence, KS this summer, I've decided to document it through the internet.  I've always been somewhat of a "crafter" by nature and someone mentioned that I should try writing a blog with an entry for each day (sorry, side note: I'm watching the first episode of the Bachelorette and I'm half way between wanting to vomit and being addicted.  I'm already distracted from writing this blog by watching these men try and make a good impression, which means the latter is probably the more likely possibility).

My mission is write one entry a day.  I'm not doing this because its typical or cliche, but because it will force me to really write something about each day.  The city of Lawrence is bursting with fantastic opportunities and I feel that summer is truly the time to do all that stuff we spend months saying we're going to do during the school year.

Finally, this entry is only a preface to the TRUE beginning of summer which is June 1st so I will begin writing officially on that date.  I'll end with a quote just to sound super insightful and creative.

"And so we turn the page over
To think of starting. This is all there is."
