I walk without flinching through the burning cathedral of the summer. My bank of wild grass is majestic and full of music. It is a fire that solitude presses against my lips.

(1) Day of Summer

Its amazing that after an entire day of relaxing you need a day of rest.  That's the way we do it in the Burdette family.

After watching a KU student get arrested for running onto the field during a Royals game, I ordered another beer and hotdog as I sweltered in the glorious Memorial day sun with my brother, his wife Megan, and their two children.  Even though the Royals lost (shocking) I had more fun just sitting and sweating with the fam than I've had in some time.  My roommate has been on vacation in Mexico for the last week and after sitting alone with only my thoughts for a the first couple of days I was desperate for some social interaction with people other than my imaginary friends.

After the game, Megan convinced to stay for the rest of the day just by uttering a single word: Joann's.  Joann's is basically a crafter's mecca AND the Memorial Day sale was in full swing.  I couldn't resist.

Sheridan's was the only way to finish the day.  I'm still showing serious withdraw symptoms since the recent closing of the Sheridan's in Lawrence.  I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in Lawrence, KS.  Luckily there are still a few of these golden custard stores left in the vicinity so I can feed my addiction.
